Under the seam
The 13th annual fashion show for the Threads student organization. This year designers were asked to create looks inspired by anything found under the sea. To go along with the underwater theme, the unconventional challenge required designers to use only recyclable materials to make their garments. Lastly, sophomores, juniors, and seniors presented their capsule collections.
12th annual fashion show for the Threads Organization. It also marked the 100th year that the Consumer, Apparel, Retail Studies program has been apart of the University. Because of this, we decided to celebrate! Designers created looks inspired by the fashion of the past 100 years. There was also an unconventional challenge as we looked into the future to see what fashion would be like if our clothing were created from items from a hardware store.
Thread's 10th Annual Fashion Show used the roman numeral for ten (X) as inspiration for the show's theme, XOXO. Designers created looks inspired by love and the letters XOXO. In addition to the main theme-inspired show and the capsule collections. Threads hosted Terry Melville's first Betty Creative Awards. This third installment to the annual fashion show allowed designers to create garments designed with a famous person in mind and enter them into a competition for a chance to win prizes from a panel of celebrity judges.
The seven deadly sins
The theme of Thread's 9th Annual Fashion Show in 2014 was the 7 deadly sins. Each look was inspired by one of the seven deadly sins (i.e. lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride.) The tradition of presenting capsule collections was continued as well.
The four Elements
The 2013 fashion show theme was "The Elements of Design," which asked designers to showcase looks inspired by elements found in nature (i.e. wind, earth, fire, and water, etc.). Students came together to organize the show, and for the second time in the history of the organization, designers were given the opportunity to design their own capsule collections comprised of 4-6 separate looks.
The theme of our 2012 fashion show was "Alter Egos of Fashion". This year also saw the debut of Thread's "Capsule Collection" concept which was presented as a second portion of the evening and allowed designers to presents a collection of 4-6 looks revealing their personal design aesthetic.
